Tattoo Aftercare

Aftercare Instructions

Clean your new tattoo 2-3 times a day with lukewarm water and antibacterial soap. Always ensure your hands are clean before touching your tattoo. Dab dry and apply one of our recommended aftercare products, Tattoo Goo or Butterluxe, making sure that you give it a good rub in. These creams work well as they soak into the scabs, giving them more elasticity. If you allow the scabs to dry out, they can crack which can result in loss of ink and you may also be more prone to infection.

When you go to work, go out or go to bed for the next 3-5 days, apply your chosen cream and then wrap your tattoo in cling film. This will create a barrier so nothing can get in it. If you are just at home, we advise to let the area breathe but still apply cream when you tattoo feels dry. Your tattoo will take 3-4 weeks to fully heal.

Keep your new tattoo away from any fragranced soaps, sun beds, swimming, fake tan and avoid picking or scratching any scabs. A tattoo must be treated like a wound, if you don’t look after it then there is a chance it won’t heal properly.

Do not use Savlon, Sudacrem, Bepanthen or any other creams that contain Lanolin or (Liquid)Paraffin on your new tattoo. These creams are not suitable for use on tattoos as they are too thick and can block the pores in the skin, potentially causing an infection. If you do suspect an infection at any time, seek medical advice from your GP. If you need any further advice please don’t hesitate to contact us.
